Ministry Preaching

Through a study of three key chapters in Matthew's Gospel (chapters eight to 10), Taylor argues that Matthew wanted people to understand God's perspective on the times in which we live. Through an analysis of the way in which Matthew presents the miracles Jesus performed and the teaching he gave his disciples, Taylor concludes that we do not live in a day which calls for judgment and condemnation, but rather one demanding gut-wrenching compassion for sinners and a bold proclamation of the forgiveness of sins Jesus came to bring.

Since we are in this world, but not of this world, we are considered flesh. It is much easier for people to gravitate toward their fleshly feelings than their spiritual feelings, because spiritual feelings require spiritual effort. When it comes to ministry, our fleshly feelings will make us look at a minister’s qualifications, how much that minister sinned throughout their life, who gave them permission to minister, what church they belong to, their social media activity, their educational background, and anything else that could potentially “disqualify” a minister.

Certainly, it is long past time in this era of low-resolution preaching, denominational banality, and pervasive biblical illiteracy. Bible study and especially deeper theology is far more vast than most people realize. People who teach from the Holy Scriptures can be very sincere but also sincerely wrong.
