"His Excellency" is a novel by the world-famous Egyptian writer Naguib Mahfouz. It tells the story of the struggle of "Othman Bayoumi" who joined as a small employee in the archives department in one of the state departments. He obtained a baccalaureate degree, relying on himself after the death of his hard-working parents.

Háfiz (1315-1390) was a lyric poet, a major figure in classical Persian literature. The compendious anthology of his poetry simply titled the Divan contains several hundred odes, from which this small selection was made by the translator. In the introduction Bicknell writes: ...we must look upon Háfiz as one of the few poets in the world who utters an unbroken strain of joy and contentment. His poverty was to him a constant fountain of satisfaction, and he frankly took the natural joys of life as they came....

نور عبدالمجيد ليست مجرد كاتبة تروى لنا قصصا لشخصوص لا نعرفها وتثير فضولنا فى مراقبة هؤلاء الشخوص والتلصص على أسرارهم وفقط بل هى كاتبة ترسم أرواحا وتجعلنا نطلق العنان لأروراحنا لتهرب من أجسادنا وتتلاقى فى نقطة ما مع تلك الأرواح التى رسمتها بين سطور رواياتها فنرحل معهم ونحل مكان ما حلوا ونتألم بألمهم وننتصر لهم ونخشى قرب الصفحات الأخيرة ففى النهاية حتما سنفارقهم. تبدأ الرواية بإهداء: "إلى الألم الذي أدبني وأظنه أحسن تأديبي" لتنقل لنا قصّة حياة بطلتها "يُسر الغندور" والتي قست عليها الحياة منذ طفولتها وسلبت منها أمها ثمَّ صفعتها وهي في ريعان شبابها بموت والدها لتتوالى الآلام ورحلات الفقد والخذلان.
