"His Excellency" is a novel by the world-famous Egyptian writer Naguib Mahfouz. It tells the story of the struggle of "Othman Bayoumi" who joined as a small employee in the archives department in one of the state departments. He obtained a baccalaureate degree, relying on himself after the death of his hard-working parents.

"The Ghost In The Crater" is a gripping tale of resilience, friendship, and the unyielding human spirit. Set in a close-knit community, the story unfolds after a tragic night of intoxication and violence that leads to the disappearance of Alex, a beloved friend. The events of that night, concealed by guilt and fear, haunt the lives of those involved.

In reading the fantastic tale of Prince Agib's adventures in the justly famous Arabian Nights, I was struck with how deeply insightful it was about the human condition. Although the story is so incredible that even one's imagination is stretched by its incredulity, the message it conveys is so universal and so human that one cannot help but be awed by its moral implications. Blaise Pascal brilliantly captures Prince Agib's and our own dilemma when he writes, “All men's miseries derive from not being able to sit in a quiet room alone.”
