Island Crime

DCI Michael Gilbert is called out to Sark - the world's first dark sky island - after bones are found on Derrible Bay. He is followed by journalist Jennifer Dorey, driven by a secret in her own past. The remains are decades old, but after a body is discovered Jennifer and Michael fear there may be a killer on the island. Together they follow a dark trail of bad blood and a conspiracy of silence. Everyone on the island is under suspicion. No one is what they seem. And the murderer could strike again at any time....

Der junge, grüblerisch veranlagte Erlendur Sveinsson hat vor kurzem seine Tätigkeit als Streifenpolizist in Reykjavík aufgenommen. In den Nachtschichten lernt er die dunklen Seiten der isländischen Hauptstadt kennen: betrunkene Autofahrer, häusliche Gewalt, Einbrüche, Drogenhandel. Ihn bewegt das Schicksal von Randfiguren der Gesellschaft. An einem Wochenende wird ein Obdachloser in einem Tümpel am Stadtrand ertrunken aufgefunden, und eine junge Frau verschwindet spurlos.

Die Leiche eines Kindes wird in der Parkanlage eines Wohnblocks entdeckt. Es ist ein frostiger Januartag, und die herbeigerufenen Beamten der Kripo Reykjavík sind schockiert: Der kleine, dunkelhäutige Junge liegt mit dem Gesicht nach unten, im eigenen Blut festgefroren, offenbar brutal ermordet.

The Scottish Hebrides. A strange group of people have descended on the small island of West Uist. Camped out in the grounds of the Castle, they are preparing to celebrate the summer solstice. Museum curator Finley McNab becomes suspicious of the cultlike group, and when he challenges them it seems his investigations could be deadly. Inspector Torquil McKinnon is called in to keep an eye on the group. Are they innocent pagan worshippers, or is something more sinister going on behind the scenes? As the day of the solstice draws ever nearer, whispers of murder are on the horizon....

A small, isolated mountain town is thrown into fear as teens begin to turn up dead, completely drained of blood, but with no apparent puncture wounds. Fearing a serial killer walks among them, the local sheriff sets his eye on a young man who has had past trouble with the law and foretold the disaster on his radio program. Also showing up in town is a well-known newscaster looking for a big story that she can spin into national news. There is also an old legend about a blood demon....

In einer hellen isländischen Sommernacht wird die nackte Leiche eines jungen Mädchens gefunden. Sie liegt auf dem mit Blumen geschmückten Grab des isländischen Freiheitskämpfers Jón Sigurdsson. Kommissar Erlendur und seine Kollegen Sigurður Óli und Elinborg von der Kripo Reykjavík finden schnell heraus, dass es sich bei der Toten um eine Drogenabhängige handelt. Warum aber wurde die Leiche gerade auf dieses Grab gelegt?
