হারবার্ট নবারুন ভট্টাচার্যের একটি বিখ্যাত বই। বইটি বাংলা সাহিত্যের একটি কালজয়ী রচনা। গল্পটি শুরু হয় একটা সুইসাইডের ঘটনা দিয়ে এবং মূল চরিত্র হারবার্ট সরকার নামে এক ভাগ্যহত যুবক মৃত ব্যক্তির আত্মাদের সাথে কথা বলতে পারে। সে প্রায়ই চিলেকোঠার ঘরে রবীন্দ্রনাথ, নেহেরু বা আরো অনেকের সাথেই কথা বলে।

'પુષ્પદાહ' એટલે પુષ્પને લાગતો દાહ. અમેરિકામાં વસતા ગુજરાતીઓના સમાજજીવનનો અંતરંગ પરિચય કરાવતી આ નવલકથા 'ડોક્યુ-નોવેલ' એટલે કે 'દસ્તાવેજી નવલકથા' છે. તેની વિશેષતા એ છે કે લેખકે આ નવલકથાનાં પાત્રોની વચ્ચે રહીને, તેમની મનોસ્થિતિનો અભ્યાસ કરતા રહીને આલેખન કર્યું છે. અમેરિકાનિવાસી મનોવિજ્ઞાનના શિક્ષક શાંતિભાઈના પુત્ર સંજયને પત્ની ચારુ થકી બે બાળકો જુલી અને રોબિન છે. ચારુએ સંજયનો ઉપયોગ અમેરિકા આવવાની સીડી તરીકે કરેલો છે. વલ્લભ ઠક્કર સાથે તેના સંબંધો છે. આ હકીકતની જાણ થતાં, સમજાવટની કોઈ અસર ન થતાં સંજય અને ચારુ છૂટાછેડા લે છે.
