From various states in the South to the Abolitionist Progressives and Quakers in the Northeastern part of the United States. Riots, lynchings, torture, escapes, triumphs, and tragedy are included in this work. Most of these accounts were from primary sources, newspapers, and interviews by former slaves years after their heroic and arduous journeys.
