"A Chapter in the History of the Tyrone Family" is a Gothic short story by Sheridan Le Fanu focusing on a young woman who marries a Scottish landowner with a dark past. A short story whose haunting and semi-supernatural elements might have influenced Charlotte Bronts "Jane Eyre", Le Fanus tale combines a lot of elements horror, romance, thriller, and drama to create a compelling and sophisticated world from which there is no easy escape.

Una mujer y su marido que es médico, John, han alquilado una casa antigua para pasar el verano. Deciden en vez de usar la habitación normal de matrimonio instalase en el cuarto de los niños en la planta alta. El marido considera que eso será una forma de tratamiento médico para que su mujer pueda recuperarse de lo que él ha diagnosticado como "una depresión nerviosa temporal con una ligera tendencia histérica", diagnóstico habitual para las mujeres de esa época.

If children's tales are sometimes a little scary, it is because children need imagery to conjure and get rid of their fears in a symbolic, healthy way. Stories are all the more pleasurable if they add an element of horror; children are fascinated, as horror stories provide a healthy way of taking into account intense emotions and making sense of them. This compilation includes folk tales, classic tales by Charles Perrault and Hans Christian Andersen, and stories from the Arabian Nights. Behold the Many is the eerily beautiful story of three young sisters, Anah, Aki, and Leah. In 1913, they are sent away from their family for treatment for tuberculosis to an orphanage in Hawaii's Kalihi Valley.
