Cette biographie historique et philosophique de Jésus-Christ a été écrite sur la base des Antiquités Juives de Flavius Josèphe, les évangiles canoniques, le Nouveau Testament, le dit évangile de Thomas ainsi que les manuscrits de la Mer Morte. Cette histoire romancée, ou roman historique, reprend la trame historique définit par les évangiles canoniques, c'est à dire que l'histoire commence par le baptême de Jésus par Jean-le-Baptiste et se termine par sa crucifixion.
