Von den vielen Millionen der deutschen Kriegsgefangenen des Zweiten Weltkrieges befanden sich 3,3 Millionen in der Sowjetunion. Eines der härtesteten Gefangenenlager war das „Nikolajew 126“ Es lag in Schadrinsk im westsibirischen Bezirk Kurgan der Sowjetunion. Dieses Lager wurde bereits im Juni 1943 am linken Ufer des Isetj am Rande eines Kiefernwaldes durch ehemalige deutsche Stalingradkämpfer eingerichtet.
