Una delle storie d'amore più struggenti di sempre raccontata in rima. Orfeo, il mitico cantore che incantava qualsiasi cosa o creatura con la potenza della sua musica, sfiderà con essa il regno dei morti "infettandolo di vita". Tutto ciò per riportare alla luce la sua amata Euridice, morta per il morso di un serpente. Un viaggio dunque nell'ignoto che sfocerà nelle proprie emozioni e nelle proprie paure. Non si sarebbe dovuto voltare durante la risalita alla vita, non avrebbe dovuto guardare Euridice in volto se non dopo esser giunti in superficie.

Ivan Krylov (1768-1844), famoso autore di favole, si dedicò totalmente a questo genere letterario dal 1808 in poi, dopo scarsi successi come commediografo. In questo campo ottenne grandi successi in patria e all'estero. Le sue favole, in versi, sono qui presentate nella traduzione di Federico Verdinois. Of the two major ancient Greek epic poems attributed to Homer, The Odyssey serves to some extent as a sequel to The Iliad. The poem describes the journey home of Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, after the fall of Troy. In the Greek sources, the Trojan War lasted 10 years, and Odysseus spent 10 more years on the return journey due to the hostility of Poseidon, the god of earth and sea. Odysseus' fantastical adventures include a period of captivity on Calypso’s island, a visit to the lethargic lotus eaters, an encounter with a one-eyed Cyclops, and more.
