From the Author: I wrote Cowboys Down The Pit a few years ago as something of an experiment in that I always wanted to illustrate and write a short story. The tale itself was inspired by stories my own Grandad told me when he was a coal miner down Clipstone Pit in Nottinghamshire, England. He always told me there were 'cowboys down the pit'. I did publish the book, with illustrations, but only for family and friends.
