On a cold Christmas Eve in Edinburgh, Detective Constable Scott Cullen investigates the gruesome murder of a local businessman. Battling a brutal hangover and with the lure of a promotion dangled in front of him, Cullen has the lingering feeling his days as a cop might just be numbered.

Someone has been stealing calves from Uncle Johnny's pasture, and it's up to Hank and Slim to put a stop to it. In the hopes of catching the "crinimals" in the act, they set up camp in the field just north of the canyon. But the stakeout isn't all fun and games.

Pretty Lily Margrave is not convinced that Hercule Poirot is needed in the matter of Sir Atwell's murder.
