Aesop’s Fables refers to a collection of fables credited to Aesop (620 - 560 BC), a slave and storyteller who lived in Ancient Greece. Many stories included in Aesop’s Fables, such as “The Fox and the Grapes” (from which the idiom “sour grapes” was derived), “The Tortoise and the Hare”, “The North Wind and the Sun”, and “The Boy Who Cried Wolf”, are well-known throughout the world.

The Velveteen Rabbit is the classic tale of a beloved stuffed rabbit who, while once fluffy and huggable, has become worn out and threadbare after years of being loved. He is saved after being discarded and taken to Rabbitland, where he becomes “Real” and is cherished for the rest of time.

Frank Stockton was an American writer and humorist, best known for a series of innovative children's fairy tales that were widely popular. His most famous fable is "The Lady or the Tiger?" (1882), about a man sentenced to an unusual punishment for having a romance with a king's beloved daughter. Other memorable tales are "The Griffin and the Minor Canon", "Old Pypes and the Dryad", and "Mr. Tolman".
