The current spiritual leader of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism, the 14th Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso, is a passionate supporter of Buddhism and the rights of the Tibetan people, becoming a symbol of Tibetan nationhood for Tibetans everywhere.
