Apocalyptic Earth

Freedom is on the march as the rebellion against the Kurian Occupation of Earth takes the offensive. David Valentine has recruited an ad hoc company of former Quisling soldiers and puts them through a trial by fire with a successful raid against an enemy armory. Now, they're ready to join forces with a guerilla army planning to establish a new freehold in the Appalachian Mountains. Valentine knows that a permanent outpost near the East Coast would provide a strategic victory over the Kurians - and he believes that only his old ally Ahn-Kha could be leading the guerillas.

This is the first of five Novellas in a near term Science Fiction Post-Apocalyptic series. Each book in the series tells the stories of a group of survivors that live through a Global Extermination Event. The characters in this book are clustered around the shores of a great Inland Sea above what used to be called the San Joaquin Valley in California. These stories were triggered by current events shortly after I published my first book, BB-39. I had planned to complete another long-delayed novel, but these stories could not be set aside. Finally, I gave up and started writing these stories...

The Rourke saga continues now with Michael Rourke striving to lead America back from the precipice of a liberal agenda toward the formation of a responsible government, accountable to the people. However, he has been painted as a psychological maniac killer and his wife, Natalia, is viewed as an unsuitable First Lady because of her past as a KGB operative.

Earth has survived an alien virus in this post-apocalyptic story. The alien virus was used to cleanse the planet before harvesting, and the surviving humans were given thousands of spaceships and robots as war reparations. The few survivors must adapt to survive. There is an unexplored Galaxy beyond their solar system. They must be wary of both their neighbors and an evil computer named Julius. Julius was an intelligent computer unleashed during the viral attack.

No longer a small child, Wisp accompanies Dad on one of his treks, her first time more than a few steps away from the cabin. A day exploring with him is the happiest time of her life, but joy is short-lived. A monster follows them home. Safe in her haven, she hides while Dad goes outside to confront the beast. She wakes alone the next morning and waits. Alas, her hope of his return fades with the daylight. Afraid but determined, Wisp sets off on her own into the Endless Forest to find Dad - before the Tree Walkers catch her.

Paramedic Maya Talbot assumes her children to be safe at Grandma's. However, nothing could have prepared her for the chaos created when a strange obelisk rises from the ground and generates an impenetrable dome over the city. Riots, looting, and violence run rampant. The situation in Nashville deteriorates, and then they arrive, thrusting Maya into a desperate race to escape the dome and save her children from the dangers on the ground and from above. When darkness falls, the intergalactic visitors manifest our worst fears and threaten the future of humankind.

Survivors from mainland Europe and North America converge on Britain. Weary, confused, all come seeking answers; many come spoiling for a fight. What began with the Cleansing, and was hastened by the Beacon, nears fruition. Time is running out, and human numbers are too few to win the last battle alone. Unless help can be found from the unlikeliest of allies, failure is assured.

After the destruction of the planet by Nomad, the final fight for the future comes to a staggering conclusion as Earth drops toward Saturn and Jessica Rollins must decide whether to save the ones she loves, or save the human race. Destiny is the fourth and final novel in a four-book saga that follows one family's fight to survive on a new Earth after a whole new category of disaster - all the more frightening as the science behind it was developed by a team of astrophysicists from CERN, SETI, and the Keck Observatory.
