Ancient Poetry

Classical poetry is a genre of poetry. Judging from the number of words in the verse, there are so-called four-character poems, five-character poems, seven-character poems, and miscellaneous poems. This album is the first series of "Ancient Poems", which recites and interprets ancient poems.

Contrairement aux imitateurs qui ne faisaient que caricaturer grossièrement Aristide Bruant, Paulo du "lapin Agile" est entré réellement dans l'esprit des textes et a appris à les dire à la grande satisfaction du chansonnier qui l'a reconnu comme "son seul élève". Après cette passation, Paulo transmit tout naturellement le témoin à son beau fils Yves Mathieu. Connaissant les textes sur le bout des doigts, Yves a apporté à l'œuvre de Bruant son propre son, sa verve, sa force de conviction et son amour de la langue.

Khwāja Shams-ud-Dīn Muḥammad Ḥāfeẓ-e Shīrāzī is commonly known to us as Hafiz, the Persian poet who was born in Shiraz, Iran, in either 1315 or 1317. The facts of much of his early life are unknown to us but it is said that, at an early age, he memorised many passages of the Quran and was therefore given the title of Hafiz, which means 'the memoriser or the safe keeper'. Hafiz mainly wrote lyric poetry or ghazals - an ideal form for expressing the ecstasy of the divine and the intoxicating mystical union with God.

Alongside Baudelaire, Mallarmé, and Rimbaud, with whom he had a stormy relationship, Paul Verlaine is one of the most influential poets of the "fin de siècle". He was one of the greatest representatives of the Decadent movement that began in the 1870s, and a leader of the "Symbolists". His stylistic innovations brought a new musicality to French poetry; it was he who paved the way for modern poetry with its experiments in free verse and new techniques.

Not many people have influenced the world we live in today in quite the same way as Abraham Lincoln. A visionary, scholar, and gentle soul. François Mauriac est né à Bordeaux en 1845. Il fit ses études chez les jésuites puis à la faculté de Bordeaux. À Paris, il s'inscrivit à l'école des Chartes, mais se consacra bientôt uniquement aux lettres. Dès 1906, il collaborait à la "Revue du Temps Présent" et publia en 1909 son premier livre, un recueil de poésie "Les Mains jointes". Il reçoit en 1925 le grand Prix du roman pour "Désert de l'amour". Président de la Société des Gens de Lettres en 1932, il est appelé à l'Académie française en 1933.
