When Peter Pan and his fairy companion, Tinker Bell, fly in through the window of Wendy's nursery one night, it is the beginning of an adventure that whisks Wendy and her brothers, Michael and John, off to Neverland. The story is set in London and is about David, a child of various ages from new born baby to a boy of about six, his mother, Mary, and the author. It made me think about the joys and losses of growing up, the darker side of children ("gay and innocent and heartless"), the power and depth of parental love, and the secret kisses we all keep inside that only someone special can unlock.
