Acerca de esta escucha
In today's episode, we will explore the Minor Prophet Habakkuk. So, who exactly was Habakkuk the Prophet? There is limited information about this Minor Prophet's background as revealed in the Bible. However, he served as a prophet to the Southern Kingdom of Israel, as indicated by the visions related to the Chaldeans, outlined in Habakkuk 1–2. These visions, articulated through Hebrew poetry, foreshadowed an imminent invasion by a foreign power. The impending threat to the Southern Kingdom of Israel would come from the Babylonians, a formidable and feared ancient empire on the rise.
What key insights can we glean from Habakkuk 2:6-8? First, a warmongering Nation will be embarrassed by their actions when the tables are turn on them, and this embarrassment will be a part of a form of judgment. Second, God's judgment will take place on the nations that unethically keep their conquered nations in debt, and they will eventually rise up against them. Thirdly, there will be a pronounced judgment for the shedding of innocent blood and violence waged upon the earth.
