Trump, has announced his intention to form a “third-party” opposition to what he refers to as the GOP/Democrat “uni-party”—and, indeed, just today Musk filed with the Federal Election Commission to form the newly created “American Party.”

Might it be more difficult to get a third-party off the ground than Trump envisions? What would the American Party stand for that is not already largely captured by the MAGA wing of the Republican party? To the extent the American Party pursues particular political strategies, is it one likely to be embraced by the American people?
