Acerca de esta escucha

Bongani Bingwa speaks to Vuma Levin, acclaimed guitarist, composer, and 2021 Standard Bank Young Artist for Jazz, about his groundbreaking new album Allegories. Blending ancient madrigals, Nguni rhythms, and European jazz, Levin’s work challenges colonial narratives through powerful musical storytelling. Funded by the Pro Helvetia Confluences Grant and featuring collaborations with Swiss and Italian musicians, Allegories is more than an album, it’s a cultural movement, touring intimate venues across Johannesburg, Makhanda, and Cape Town. Bongani and Vuma explore how this project rewrites history, giving voice to the colonized and the erased through jazz’s fearless spirit of resistance.

Bongani makes sense of the news, interviews the key newsmakers of the day, and holds those in power to account on your behalf. The team bring you all you need to know to start your day
