  • Major League Baseball Finally Caves In On Pete Rose
    May 14 2025

Our Long National Nightmare is finally over.

Major League Baseball announced on Tuesday that Pete Rose, MLB's all-time hit leader will now be eligible for induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Along with Rose are the eight members of the 1919 Chicago "Black" Sox including "Shoeless" Joe Jackson who, along with seven of his teammates were found guilty of fixing the outcome of the World Series that year.

The voting on Rose, Jackson, and the others won't happen until December 2027, with possible induction coming in the summer of 2028.

Also on tap this week - following a horrible injury to Jason Tatum, the Knicks appear poised to eliminate the Boston Celtics, and the Mets and Yankees head to the Bronx for a 3-game series with Juan Soto in the spotlight.

And to wrap things up, we talk about Wolfgang Van Halen's incredible performance with his band Mammoth this past Sunday at Debonair Music Hall in Teaneck.

  • Hey, Nick Saban - Leave President Trump Alone. He Already Has Enough To Do.
    May 7 2025

Former Alabama head football coach Nick Saban isn't happy with the way N-I-L money is changing the landscape of college football. And neither is Alabama Senator (and former Auburn head coach) Tommy Tuberville.

In a post on X/Twitter a few days ago, Tuberville said, " College football is the heart and soul of America — but it’s in danger if we don’t level the playing field."

So Saban and Tuberville have appealed to President Donald Trump to get involved.

    Really?

With everything going on in our country and around the world, they want the President to do something to "level the playing field" of college football?

And that also begs the question, "Level it for whom?"

Jim Monaghan and Chris Swendeman talk about that, plus Gene Simmons, Game One of the Knicks/Celtics series, plus Yankees reliever Devin Williams and Mets outfielder Juan Soto.

  • Fixing the Problem With Yankees Reliever Devin Williams May Be Easier Than You Think
    Apr 29 2025

OK, Yankees fans, now it's your turn to dial it back.

A week ago, we were talking about the need for Mets fans to back off Juan Soto because he was going to be just fine.

Now, after a couple of disastrous relief appearances, it's Yankee fans who want Devin Williams gone...like yesterday.

So while Soto has raised his batting average 36 points in the last 10 games to quiet at least some of the naysayers for awhile, Williams is in a deep funk - like an 11.25 ERA kind of funk.

This week on the Two-Minute Drill podcast, Jim Monaghan offers what may be a simple fix for Williams, and we put Chris Swendeman on the clock to evaluate the NFL Draft choices made by the Giants and Jets.
