Dovev served as the head trainer of elite units in the Israel Defense Forces. He retired from active service as a Major in December 2022 but continues to serve in the reserves. Hours after the diabolical Hamas attacks on Israel, the morning of October 7, 2023, Retired Lieutenant Colonel, Jonathan Conricus reported as a civilian volunteer for reserve duty and was appointed as an IDF Reserve International Spokesperson.

After serving 24 years in the Israel Defense Forces, including four years as International Spokesperson from 2017-2021, he was just the right person for the job.
