  • Extremely Successful People MUST Have Personality Disorders
    Feb 26 2025
In this thought-provoking episode, Keith Kalfas explores the challenging relationship between empathy and achieving extreme success. He argues that highly successful individuals often have to develop skills akin to a 'personality disorder' to manage their emotions and compartmentalize stressful situations. Through various analogies and insights, the episode delves into the necessity of conscious competence, emotional regulation, and high-level compartmentalization. Keith shares personal experiences, discusses influential figures like Dan Kennedy, and emphasizes the importance of developing oneself to meet a higher calling and achieve long-term success. "Success isn't just about reaching the top—it's about mastering the delicate balance between empathy and the traits that may seem discordant with it. In the pursuit of greatness, we must learn to compartmentalize, adapt, and evolve, understanding that what appears as disorder may, in fact, be the order required for extraordinary achievement." - Keith Topics Covered: Introduction: Are You an Empath? The Necessity of Developing a Personality Disorder Compartmentalizing Emotions for Success Handling Stress and Maintaining Professionalism The Role of Empathy in Leadership The Importance of Emotional Maturity The Power of the Empathetic Witness Higher Levels of Consciousness The Butterfly Effect of Peace and Love Spiritual Insights and Personal Revelations Final Thoughts and Encouragement Key Takeaways The Complex Reality of Extreme Success: The journey to achieving success is undoubtedly fraught with hurdles that test one's mental fortitude. Successful people encounter stressful situations daily, similar to being in a batting cage with baseballs hurling at them from all angles. Yet, they demonstrate a profound ability to switch gears and remain composed, much like donning various hats seamlessly. The Art of Compartmentalization: The ability to context switch is not just a survival mechanism—it's an art form that many successful people practice. They can leave a heated discussion or family dispute and shift immediately into a productive business mindset. This skill may appear almost sociopathic, but it is, in essence, a testament to their emotional intelligence and maturity. Leadership Through Empathy and Understanding: If you're somebody with high empathy, crafting this balance can feel unethical or even inauthentic. Yet, to thrive in today's competitive world, understanding how to control your emotional outputs is crucial. Even though our ancestors relied on tribal support to process their emotional experiences, today's society demands a different strategy—one where emotions are acknowledged but not allowed to disrupt business. The Role of Perspective and Gratitude: At the core of this practice is a profound sense of gratitude and the recognition that we are all standing on the shoulders of those who came before us. The opportunities we have today are built on the back of countless sacrifices and innovations of our forebears. This awareness can be a powerful motivator, inspiring us to rise above our emotional turbulence and seize the opportunities available to us. So I wanna share it with you. Here's what it is. You might be having a conversation in your head with yourself that says, I don't like the money I'm making or what I'm doing. I wanna make more money, but I wanna do something that I love. I've spent so much time doing stuff that I hate and still not making the money that I wanna make. I wanna make great money and do something that I love. I don't wanna do something just for the sake of money. Keith Kalfas [00:00:39]: Now you might be the opposite. You might be like, I don't care what it is. If it makes a lot of money, I'll do it. I'll freaking sell my soul for the money. And there are people that do that. There are people who make tons of money. They don't feel full of their life videos already gone. They don't fulfill their life's purpose at all, and they don't even care. Keith Kalfas [00:00:59]: They just can't. They just get a whole bunch of money. And you know what everybody else says? You know what society tells them? Wow. You're a superhero. You're so smart. You're so great. You're such an achiever. You're outstanding. Keith Kalfas [00:01:12]: And you know what they say? Well, yes, I am because I make a lot of money. I make so much money it's because I'm a genius. I must be fulfilling my life's purpose. And look at all these people looking up to me. And because you make a lot of money yeah. You know what? But if you don't spend time with the people that you love and look them in the eyes and be present with them and get them a card that says thank you. I appreciate you. Since I make a lot of money, let me pay for lunch. Keith Kalfas [00:01:42]: Let me buy everybody dinner and then act like I didn't do shit. There's fun things you can do when you make a lot of money. Something as simple as one positive interaction with even a stranger can impact that person's life and create a butterfly effect that goes on to impact millions of people's lives. That's the power that you have. So, I wanna encourage you to take a leap and double down on your goodness this year and reach deep down inside of yourself and pull out the courage and the determination to let your light shine. See, God made you in his likeness and image, and he made you for a reason. And some other people around you might not see the vision that you have and that's okay. They're not supposed to so you don't have to waste any more time worrying about what anybody else thinks because when you step forward confidently in the direction of your dreams You start putting one foot in front of the other and you don't ask for permission or approval of anybody you just put together a plan and you start taking action take that next step what happens is when you are committed and you're 100% confident that's a foregone conclusion in your brain. That's when the people around you that maybe might have been naysayers or didn't believe, they'll back you up, and they'll support you. Keith Kalfas [00:01:35]: And the support will come from nowhere, and it'll come too late. You could have used it in the past when you really needed it But it's amazing that all those things will come when you no longer need them All the things you want in your life will show up when you no longer want them so badly that cause you suffering. It's the very suffering that pushes them away. So, you can start with small things. Random acts of kindness is a good way to go. Sorry, I'm stuttering.
