  • Season 2025 Episode 10. Michael McAdams shares the fascinating story of spirit communication that runs in his family
    Jul 5 2025

    Go ahead and text me!

Michael McAdams was born in the City of the Seven Hills, Cincinnati, Ohio. Michael was brought up in a Christian household and was fortunate to have many spiritual and faith-based family members surround him. His uncle, John W. Sullivan, was a fiery Pentecostal preacher who founded churches in Florida, Kentucky, and the largest one in Middletown, Ohio. Wilma Jean Jones, Michael’s mother, would often play piano for the church services. Michael’s grandmother, Mary Culbertson, was called to the ministry when she was thirty years old. She often spoke of how God would speak to her heart.

On numerous occasions she received sermons and lyrics to songs dictated to her mind that she would preach and sing in her church services. Mary always acknowledged that these were given from God and felt privileged to receive them. As Michael grew older his foundation of faith served him well, and he continues to be a sincere seeker of truth. Michael remains open to this day to all avenues of information regarding spiritual and psychic material. At the age of twenty Michael enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Germany for two years. He was married at the time, and his wife and daughter were able to be with him in Germany. They had an apartment off-base, and his second daughter was born in Germany. Upon returning from the Army, Michael worked with GM in Cincinnati and also with Sheraton Hotels in Dayton as their sales manager booking commercial events.

Even as a young child, Michael remembers having questions regarding church teachings. He always felt there had to be more. With a strong foundation of faith, Michael explored many avenues of spiritual and psychic material. “When the student is ready, a teacher will appear” was most appropriate for Michael as he would meet people who would suggest a book or a speaker that would always take him to the next step on his path. Michael had always felt intuitive and soon discovered his ability to receive information and messages for others by holding objects such as jewelry, keys, or any item that carried a person’s vibration. This technique is known as psychometry. Michael was given a table as a reader at a Cincinnati spiritual event and performed readings at their monthly meetings. Michael believes his mission in this lifetime is to be a bridge between those with a biblical faith-based foundation and those of spiritual faith, offering enlightenment and truth in the sharing of the messages and teachings received by his mother Wilma Jean Jones.

Michael’s mother, Wilma Jean Jones attended a number of these spiritual events and having an open mind soon realized her own abilities to tune in to others and receive information from their spirit teachers/angels. Wilma Jean began to teach a series of classes for those interested in developing their own abilities. Wilma Jean Jones spoke publicly to women’s groups, was written about in a number of newspaper articles, and was interviewed on television in Cincinnati regardi

Major (Ret.) Roy E. Emerson, originally from Vacaville, California, enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1988 as an Infantryman, beginning his career with the 75th Ranger Regiment. He participated in Operation Just Cause, conducting a combat parachute assault in Panama. Over his career, he served in multiple leadership roles, including with the 18th Airborne Corps Long Range Surveillance Company at Fort Bragg, two tours with the 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii, and as an instructor at the U.S. Army Ranger School.

After commissioning as an officer in 2005, he served as a platoon leader and executive officer with the 173rd Airborne Brigade, deploying for 15 months to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He later commanded a headquarters company with there 5th US Cavalry Regiment at Fort Hood, leading security operations in Iraq during Operation New Dawn. Emerson also served with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, leading global recovery missions to repatriate fallen U.S. servicemen and the US Army Recruiting Battalion , New York City. He concluded his 31-year career as an ROTC instructor at Princeton University.

In early 2024, Emerson was inspired by Army friends who rowed across the Atlantic in World's Toughest Row’s Atlantic Challenge 2023. Their mission aligned with his own passion for supporting veterans, leading him to establish RangeOars Row Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to using ocean rowing as a platform to raise awareness for veteran mental health and suicide prevention. Through endurance challenges and community engagement, the organization aims to inspire resilience, foster camaraderie, and support initiatives that address the struggles many veterans face after service.

The team has been training monthly in Fernandina Beach, Florida to accumulate hours on their vessel AKESO and will formally launch from Monterey Bay, California on June 7th this year and row unsupported for four to six weeks to finish at Hanaleai Bay, Kauai, Hawaii. There are five other teams entered into this year's Pacific Challenge.

Monies raised by Team RangeOars Row will go to several charities close to the team’s hearts; Brother Keeper Veteran Foundation, Gary Sinise Foundation, Three Rangers Foundation and Hardrock Charlie Foundation.

Roy is married to the former Mia Martin of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and they live in Annandale, NJ. Mia is a Chef and together they operate a successful catering company in Frenchtown NJ. Their daughter Rachel is married to Stephen Lee who now lives in Huntsville, AL. Their son, Dagon is a firefighter and EMT with Quakertown Fire Company in Franklin Township. They have one Grandson, Roxas, and one Granddaughter, Clementine.

  • Season 2025: Episode 6. Sandra Schnakenburg shares how she kept a promise to her housekeeper and became a writer in the proccess
    Apr 23 2025

    Go ahead and text me!

Award Winning Memoir Author Sandra SchnakenburgI grew up in Barrington, Illinois. After earning a B.S. in Finance at Arizona State University and an MBA from the University of Southern California, she settled with her husband, Karl, in Singapore, then Australia — where their twins, Kyle and Alexis, were born. After moving back to the United States, the family lived in The Woodlands, Texas, where Karl and she raised their family. During that time, Sandra worked on and off in corporate finance until she took up the love of writing. A philosophy of curiosity and a promise led her to write her first Memoir, The Housekeeper’s Secret - a personal story to fulfill her family’s housekeeper’s dying wish. In the process, she grew fascinated by the mechanics of storytelling and the power it holds, connecting family through the generations.

After interviewing Sandra, I read her book and found the true story of her family and her housekeeper's life absorbing and so moving! What a great book.

  • Season 2025: Episode 5. It took Richard Hsung's ten years, but he finished his mother's memoir telling about her tumultuous life in Communist China
    Apr 9 2025

    Go ahead and text me!

Jean Tren-Hwa Perkins was born unwanted during the 1931 Yangtze River Flood, adopted by medical missionaries, brought to the US for a few years, then trapped in Communist China. She was neither American nor Chinese "enough," yearning for acceptance and home her whole life. Her memoir, finished by her son, is an eyewitness account of Chinese history and her own harrowing story.

Richard Hsung's life has spanned two continents and cultures. His mother survived turbulent times in China, living through the start of Communism, and being separated from her American adoptive parents.

She asked Richard if he would tell her story, and she passed her notes and writings on to him. It took much longer than he thought it would and it changed him.

Richard Perkins Hsung promised his mother he would complete her memoir. It took him more than ten years. He meticulously compiled and edited her writings, adding family photographs and historical details to create the 3-volume Spring Flower, spanning the 83 years of her life (1931–2014):

Spring Flower Book 1: A Tale of Two RiversSpring Flower Book 2: Facing the Red Storm Spring Flower Book 3: Torn Between Shifting Worlds

The books have 5-star reviews on Amazon, and are the result of years of work by Chemistry Professor-turned-author Richard Hsung.

At this time in history, his mother's story reminds us of the human costs of the decisions made by the world's government powers, and the painful decisions some people are forced to make.
