  • Radiate Light with Sally McQuillen
    May 6 2025
When Sally McQuillen’s grown son died in a boat accident, her greatest fear was realized. Christopher was often drawn to risk and struggled with addiction. In her riveting memoir, Reaching for Beautiful: A Memoir of Loving and Losing a Wild Child, Sally captures the wild ride of his jam-packed life and her deep love for him while reflecting on her own childhood and family’s legacy of alcoholism. McQuillen shares insights about what it’s like to experience the aftershocks of acute grief, through the lens of her experience as a mother and her professional vantage point as a psychotherapist. Even if they have not been touched by loss in this way, readers may see themselves in Sally’s bittersweet illusion of trying to keep her child safe, in how she is challenged to let go of her fear, guilt, and regret in order to forgive herself, and in the ways grief teaches her about the power of love. • Radiate Time Travel with Stephanie Carey
    Feb 11 2025
Stephanie Carey, author of the debut time travel/chick lit novel Blindsided, has loved books from a young age. In fact, her elementary school librarian said she was running out of books to recommend! In college, Stephanie worked at the student union grill, where the journalism professor was a regular. One day Stephanie told him she loved to write. He scowled and said she probably didn’t know how, but if she took Journalism 101, he could teach her. A journalist was born. Carey went on to write for The Rocky Mount Telegram, then to radio, where she hosted Morning Edition in Evansville, IN. After exploring a variety of jobs in media, she was inspired to own her own media company. In 2018, Stephanie became co-owner and publisher of The Pitch, an alternative newspaper in Kansas City. After keeping it alive during COVID, she sold The Pitch in 2021 and now works in tech sales and lives in KC with her rescue dog, Frannie. Learn more about Stephanie and Blindsided at helloscarey.com.
