Acerca de esta escucha
We’re no strangers to TRUK United on this podcast – but thanks to a pioneering new documentary, the story of the world’s first trans-inclusive football club is making it to the big screen.
Cameron Richards and Charlie Tidmas spent two years with their team, documenting the fortunes of the club for the documentary We’ll Go Down In History – which is a superb watch about the journey of the team.
One of the main subjects is Emily Waldron – a loud and proud Liverpool fan who has flourished at TRUK, even though she didn’t think football would necessarily be for her – and her journey is one of the key parts of a brilliant, beautiful story.
It’s a story of camaraderie, determination and joy – and one that is sorely needed – and we’re delighted that Cameron and Emily are with us on the podcast today.
We talk about the origins of the film, how it came together, the need to portray trans joy in sport on screen, the way it’s been received at screening after screening, including at the BFI Flare London LGBTQ+ Film Festival.
It’s a cracker of a chat, and we’re grateful to them both for joining us on the podcast today.
