  • Caitlin Cannon | The Marinade Episode 189
    May 20 2025

Caitlin Cannon is a powerhouse singer, songwriter, actor, and comedian. Her new record Love Addict is chock full of bangers that grabbed me on the first listen. It’s got country in it with some psychedelica. The album is a sonic and lyrical journey that pushes the envelope.

On some episodes, you really connect with the guest. I feel like this is one of those episodes. Everyone, it is my honor to bring you, my conversation with Caitlin Cannon.

The song you are hearing in this episode is "Love Addict" from Caitlin's album of the same name.

  • Scott Sharrard (of Little Feat) | The Marinade Episode 188
    May 13 2025

Little Feat's legend goes back to 1969! The band has produced ubiquitous hits like "Dixie Chicken" and "Willin'." Their influence stretches across generations. They have endured heartbreak, loss, and lineup changes but the core Little Feat sound has remained true since the beginning. Scott Sharrard joined LIttle Feat in 2019 and has been instrumental in their efforts leading up to the band's latest record Strike Up The Band, which was released on May 9th, 2025.

In addition to his work with Little Feat, Scott was the band leader for the Gregg Allman Band and his band The Chesterfields. The band, and Scott, have lived a fascinating musical life.

The song you are hearing in this episode is "Midnight Flight" from Little Feat's excellent new record.

  • Matt Andersen | The Marinade Episode 187
    May 5 2025

Matt Andersen is a singer and songwriter from New Brunswick, Canada whose career has spanned over twenty years and somehow, despite his work being very much in my wheelhouse, I am just now learning about it all. This man’s voice, his playing, his writing- it all shines on each of his records and especially so on his new record The Hammer & The Rose. The Hammer & The Rose was released on April 25, 2025 and it is squarely on my 2025 superlatives list.

Before I get to my conversation with Matt, I want to thank three new Patreon patrons! Bob Beatty, Seth Gill, and Tom Romito have all joined our Patreon community lately. Patreon.com/marinadepodcast if you would like to support The Marinade and enjoy some bonus content.

The song you are hearing in this episode is "Tonight Belongs To You" from Matt's new album The Hammer & The Rose.

  • Steve Poltz | The Marinade Episode 185
    Apr 24 2025

Steve Poltz is a singer and songwriter originally from Nova Scotia, raised in Southern California, and now making his home in Nashville. He made a name for himself first with his band The Rugburns and later, more famously, as co-writer with Jewel including the mega hit “You Were Meant For Me.”

If you are of a certain age, you will remember the video for that song. A spare room with Jewel playing guitar and a dude dressed like 1996. That dude is Steve Poltz himself! Fifteen-year-old me would be losing his mind.

Hell, 44-year-old me is losing his mind at this opportunity. Steve’s latest record Stardust & Satellites is outstanding!

We recorded this episode after Steve’s enchanting set during Suwannee Spring Reunion 2025 at Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park.

Everyone, it is my great honor to bring you my conversation with Steve Poltz!

(The song you are hearing in this episode is "It's Baseball Season" from Steve's excellent record Stardust & Satellites.)

  • Grey DeLisle | The Marinade Episode 184
    Apr 14 2025

Grey DeLisle is an acclaimed actor and Grammy-winning musician whose latest record is an immediate contender for my favorite of the year. Where does one begin to introduce a powerhouse like Grey DeLisle? For decades she was the voice of Daphne in the Scooby Doo series. She plays Azula in Avatar The Last Airbender. Her music has been compared to Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn. Just an all around badass and very cool person.
