  • True Crime S3 Episode 22: The Mysterious Death of Kenneka Jenkins
    Jul 8 2025

At around 4:30 AM on Saturday, September 9th, 2017, Teresa Martin got a phone call from her daughter’s friends who had accompanied her to a party. They explained that they had left the party because they couldn’t find her daughter, Kenneka Jenkins, but still had her phone and her car. Teresa immediately made her way to the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Rosemont, Illinois, near the O’Hare airport, where the party had taken place. She arrived at around 5:30 AM and began searching for Kenneka. After not finding her, she went to hotel management and requested that they begin combing through video surveillance to see if they could find where Kenneka had gone, but they told her they couldn’t grant access to it until Kenneka had been reported missing. At 7:14 AM, when Teresa called to report her daughter missing, she very clearly told the operator taking her call that something was not right because it wasn’t like Kenneka to disappear like this.

  • True Crime S3 Episode 20: The Stories of Marsha P. Johnson and Dorian Corey
    Jun 17 2025

We are going to be talking about two trailblazing Black transgender women. Remember, Black queer people are who we have to thank for camp fashion, reading others to filth, and spilling the tea. I do want to preface this episode by saying that I will be using language used by drag queens and trans women from the 1960s to the 1990s, which is different from the politically correct language we use today. The women I’m going to talk about used she/her pronouns and today would be considered transgender or gender nonconforming, but I do plan on using the words they used to identify themselves at the time they were alive.

After the New York Pride Parade in 1992, a body was found floating in the Hudson River. It was determined to be that of 46-year-old Marsha P. Johnson and police quickly ruled it a suicide, despite noting a massive wound to the back of her head.
