After an extended “vacation”, during which Kevin became a responsible adult (genuinely alarming) and Izzie took up stalking (she didn’t, I just have terrible hearing) we’ve returned to the land of podcasting like prodigal children with microphones.

This episode finds us in a teepee at the delightfully earthy Wood Festival - yes, a real-life canvas triangle in a real-life field. We’re surrounded by trees, tunes, and the legendary Bennett family - the magical minds behind Truck Festival, Truck Store, Wood Festival, September Song and much much more.

We wanted to visit the Wood Festival because it’s all about the things we should be doing more of - enjoying the world around us, connecting with nature, speaking to actual humans (without a screen in the way), and daring to enjoy the weather… even when it’s British. The good wood stuff!

There’s also chat about de-peaking (it’s grim, it’s real, it’s someone’s actual job), festival shenanigans and why Kevin won’t go near a loo unless it has a view (ooh that rhymed!)

Look who finally showed up to their own podcast...

It’s your fashionably late (but still bloody brilliant) hosts of The Good Stuff Podcast, Kev and Izzie.

We've been gone longer than your houseplants can survive without guilt-watering and yes, waiting for us has been like Glastonbury ticket day, or maybe you weren’t waiting. Either way… we’re back. Sorry. Not sorry.

So yeah, we went AWOL. Well, Kev did. He started a business like some sort of responsible adult (who knew) and Izzie didn’t take up stalking, we just misheard her. Classic us.

This episode is only nine months late (give us a break!) Though that is long enough to have a baby. We didn’t. Together or separately. Just to be clear (or did we?! No. We didn’t.)

But we did record in a tepee at the incredible Wood Festival 2024. Which, let’s be honest, is cooler than childbirth. So buckle up, tune in, and get ready for the episode that took longer to land than Avatar 3.

In this lively episode of The Good Stuff Podcast we dive headfirst into the world of fitness with three awesome guests: Dan Phipps, a personal trainer & online coach with the perfect playlist for every workout (Kylie on repeat for Kev, sorry Dan!) Susie, who knows how to whip anyone into shape (she won't use a whip, just to be very clear about that) and Ian Jackson, who basically does everything.

We cover everything from finding motivation to Geoff, that guy at the gym who never skips leg day. And, of course, there's an intervention for Kev, who’s finally going to stop using his Davina McCall exercise bike as a glorified clothes dryer. So said that guy (it's alright we're not sure who he is either!) but one thing we do know is that we don't know a lot about social 'media' and how it is affecting our wellbeing yet.

We know it allows us to more easily engage with one another and share stories, share experiences, the ups and the downs of life but we also know it can sometimes be a mysterious, faceless and unpleasant place. In this episode, Kev & Izzie quiz Phoebe (bumblephii on Insta) about her experience of social media - the good, the bad and the ugly. She is to social media what Greta Thunberg is to environmental activism.

We know the title of this episode is Silence Is Golden but we won't be serving silence up in this episode, sorry - I mean who wants a podcast presenting you with 20 minutes or so of silence (actually, now we come to think of it, who wouldn't want that right now in our rather frantic and frenetic world!)

Join Kevin and Izzie as they attempt to find their inner librarians and peace out to the calming voice of Gabs Brown, their new favourite yoga master as she sends a calming zephyr (look it up!) across our rather busy and addled minds - basically she talks Izzie and Kevin down from volume 10 to volume 2 and in the process shows us the importance of silence for our general wellbeing.

You be quiet, no you be quiet, why don't we all be quiet!

PS - don't fret, even in the silence Kevin and Izzie can still giggle and crack fart jokes, this is still the Good Stuff after all!

The Good Stuff Podcast has donned our uniform and gone back to school and we have to say, we loved our first day!

This special episode of The Good Stuff Podcast introduces our listeners to Becky Hawkes, Academic Director of Middle School at Headington Rye and Mikey, our editor and a rather marvellous podcast producer.
