  • Fear Street: Prom Queen (2025)
    Jun 3 2025

The Final Ghouls are finishing up our Fear Street coverage as we look at the brand new entry in the franchise, Fear Street: Prom Queen! Sadly, this isn't a winner for us and Holly, Jeremy and L share our thoughts on when the movie drops the ball (usually), where it succeeds (far less often) and our hopes for where the franchise goes from here.

Get Ready For: Discussion of the Holly's prom experience that could have been a movie, the rifle range-turned-book depository at Jeremy's school, L's negative review of the book the movie is based on, divided opinions on the last act, a rundown of the films this generously "borrows" from, cardboard characters and rants about anachronistic songs and power tools.

    May 27 2025

The Final Ghouls are back and still in the Summer Of Fear as we conclude our look at the Fear Street Trilogy with Part 3: 1666. Holly, Jeremy and L travel back to the past to discuss the concluding chapter's witchy elements, how the film works as a conclusion to the story and our thoughts on the three films as a whole, then preview the newly-released Fear Street: Prom Queen.

Get Ready For: Thoughts on the film's thematic elements, 1666's accent problem, how we feel about period horror as a whole, which character should have died when we got back to 1994, who we think we see in the mid-credits scene, split thoughts on the super soakers, our favorite moments from the franchise as a whole and the glory of Martin the janitor.

  • The Autopsy Of Jane Doe (2016)
    May 5 2025

The Final Ghouls are snapping on the rubber gloves and busting out the rib spreader as we explore supernatural horror in André Øvredal's 2016 morgue-set chiller The Autopsy of Jane Doe! Holly, Jeremy and L dive into the mystery and discuss the three central characters, the effectiveness of the autopsy scenes and how well the supernatural elements work for us.

Get Ready For: Discussion of who the film's villain is (and we all agree it's not Jane Doe), why some elements of the father-son relationship work better than others, how Jeremy and Holly's faiths played into their views on the movie, L's geographical disadvantage to picking up the clues surrounding the mystery, a return to the horrors of Thomas the Train, why the movie made L think of Bagpuss, our headcanon around Jane's origins, and some related recommendations.

  • The Thing (1982)
    Apr 21 2025

The Final Ghouls put on their cold weather gear and trust no one as we journey to Antarctic sci-fi horror with John Carpenter's 1982 classic The Thing! Holly, Jeremy and L discuss the film's themes, the famous special effects and how well the paranoid vibes work for each of them.

Get Ready For: Discussion of the ambiguous ending (and who we think may or may not be infected), which characters we found ourselves relating to or not, Holly unlocking some childhood nightmares about the film, Jeremy's grudge against E.T., L relating another disturbing tale from real life, a queer reading of the movie, whether the effects are a bit TOO good, and some thoughts about the 2011 prequel.

    Apr 8 2025

The Final Ghouls take a trip into the 1990s for gateway horror television with Are You Afraid of the Dark's "The Tale of the Dream Girl" and "The Tale of the Dangerous Soup!" Holly and L are the experts as they educate Jeremy on a show that he was just a bit too old for at the time.

Get Ready For: Discussion of gateway horror and anthology television, lots of Neve Campbell appreciation, Tucker talk, questions of whether the Sixth Sense was inspired by one of the episodes and the other's Nightmare on Elm Street similarities, the terror of Paw Patrol and Thomas & Friends, anthology horror, L horrifying us by describing Australian children's TV, and thoughts on the revivals.

  • The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
    Mar 10 2025

The Final Ghouls are back and heading back to 1974 for one of the most iconic horror films of all-time in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre! Holly, L, and Jeremy take a look at the famed Tobe Hooper film and have some varied opinions about it.

Get Ready For: Debates on whether the film is a pure slasher film or something else, dicussions of the dinner scene, the notion that Hooper was shooting for a PG rating, great '70s hair being an identifying trait, why L relates to the dinner scene so much (and why it concerns Holly and Jeremy!), and a brief Oscars tangent.

Producer's Note: We had some internet issues with the recording for this week's episode so there is a lack of interaction during the plot synopsis section in particular, which caused it to go a bit long, and a couple of rough editing moments. Apologies for that!
