He is an evolutionary anthropologist whose principal focus is contemporary humans. His research currently focuses on a number of domains, including: emotions; disease avoidance; morality; prosociality and cooperation; conflict, aggression, and risk-taking; cultural transmission; food and eating; and sex and reproduction. In this episode, we first talk about physical formidability: what it is, and how it is assessed in men and women. We then talk about preferences for male muscularity, and how men can overestimate the degree of muscularity women prefer. We also discuss moral parochialism and moral condemnation. We talk about ectoparasites, disgust, and pathogen-avoidance. His research focuses on the philosophy of the cognitive sciences, with a particular emphasis on ecological (neo-Gibsonian) psychology and other embodied and situated theories of cognition.Dr. Vicente Raja is a post-doctoral researcher at the MINT Lab, a research fellow at University of Murcia (Spain) and external affiliate faculty of the Rotman Institute of Philosophy at Western University (Canada).They are the authors of Ecological Psychology. In this episode, we focus on Ecological Psychology. We start by talking about what ecological psychology is, as well as its history. We discuss how it relates to gestalt psychology, phenomenology, and behaviorism. We talk about the study of perception and action, and some of the main concepts in ecological psychology, with a focus on affordances.     Dr. Philip Nitschke is an Australian humanist, author, former physician, and founder and director of the pro-euthanasia group Exit International. He campaigned successfully to have a legal euthanasia law passed in Australia's Northern Territory and assisted four people in ending their lives before the law was overturned by the Government of Australia. Nitschke was the first doctor in the world to administer a legal, voluntary, lethal injection, after which the patient activated the syringe using a computer.

    In this episode, we talk about assisted suicide and the right to die. We start by defining assisted suicide and voluntary euthanasia. We talk about Dr. Nitschke’s personal journey in the advocacy for assisted suicide. We discuss arguments for and against assisted suicide. We talk about palliative care. We discuss the right to die, Exit International, euthanasia laws in the Netherlands and Switzerland, criteria to have access to assisted suicide, the “peaceful pill”, and the sarco pod. We talk about conscientious objection and autonomy. We discuss how mental capacity is assessed, and whether suicide should be prevented. Finally, we talk about the future of assisted suicide in terms of law and technological advancements.
