ידוע הפתגם שפסח שני מלמד אותנו "אַז ס'ניטאָ קיין פאַרפאַלען", שאף פעם לא אבוד, אלא יכולים לתקן, אפי' מי שהי' טמא, מי שהי' בדרך רחוקה, ואפי' "לכם", שנעשה ברצונו, מ"מ יכולים לתקן. וחידוש נוסף, שכללות הציווי דפסח שני נתחדש ע"י אותם אנשים שהיו צריכים לתיקון ע"י שטענו "למה נגרע וגו'", ולא רק לאלו הצריכים תיקון, אלא גם לכל ישראל – שניתוספה פרשה בתורה שיכולים ללמוד בה במשך השנה. והוראה נפלאה מזה: מכאן רואים עד כמה גדול כחו של כאו"א מישראל, שאפי' אחדים מישראל, יהי' מי שיהי', אפי' מי' שהי' טמא או בדרך רחוקה וכו', בכחם לפעול הוספה בעניני תומ"צ עבור כלל ישראל!

Pesach Sheini teaches us that it’s never too late: even if someone is “impure” or “distant,” and even if it was “lachem,” meaning it was by their choice – nevertheless they can still correct the situation. An additional novelty in Pesach Sheini is that the mitzvah was introduced by those very individuals who required correction, by protesting, “Why should we be excluded?” This led to the addition of a new parashah in the Torah, not only for themselves but for the entire Jewish people, and one from which we can derive a lesson for the entire year. This serves as wondrous lesson of the tremendous power of every single Jew: even a few individuals, whoever they may be – even if they were impure or distant etc. – have the power to add something to Torah and mitzvos for the entire Jewish people.

העזרה ליהודי שני בגשמיות אין בה כדי לפטור את חובתו לעזור לו ברוחניות - להשפיע עליו להניח תפילין, כשרות, שמירת שבת או טהרת המשפחה וכיו"ב. ואדרבה - העזרה בזה נוגע עוד יותר כי בזה תלוי עיקר החיות של יהודי זה! והרי החיוב ד"הוכח תוכיך את עמיתך" [כמ"ש בשני דפ' קדושים] אינו רק על הרב והמגיד-מישרים אלא על כאו"א! וכ"ש א' שמעסיק יהודי שני בעסק שלו ועוזר לו בפרנסה גשמית, שעליו לנצל את ההשפעה שיש לו עליו ולעזור לו להתקרב ליהדות וכו' ו"המעשה הוא העיקר" וכו'. אלא זה צ"ל באופן דסבר פנים יפות וכו', ויש להשתדל בזה "עד מאה פעמים" וסו"ס יצליח וכו'.

Helping another Jew physically does not exempt one from the obligation to help him spiritually – by influencing him to put on tefillin and keep Shabbos, kashrus, family purity etc. On the contrary – helping another Jew spiritually is even more important, because that is the essence of a Jew’s life. The obligation to rebuke one’s fellow (as it says in parashas Kedoshim) doesn’t apply only to Rabbonim etc., but to every Jew. Certainly someone who employs another Jew in his business, thus assisting him with his material livelihood, is especially obligated to utilize the influence he has over him to help him in a pleasant manner draw closer to Yiddishkeit etc., and “action is the main thing.” One must exert himself in this effort “even up to one hundred times,” and in the end, he will succeed.

הוראה בענין "ואהבת לרעך כמוך" [בשני דפ' קדושים] מסיפור הבא: לאחרי הסתלקות אדה"ז היו לצ"צ כמה ספיקות שרצה שאדה"ז יפתור לו, אלא שלא הצליח בזה וכו', עד שפעם א' נגש אליו יהודי לפני התפלה ובקש ממנו הלואה כדי שיוכל לקנות בו עגל עבור פרנסתו (זה הי' יום שוק), הזדרז הצ"צ והלך מיד, לפני התפלה, לביתו והביא לו את ההלואה וכו'. כשחזר - נראה אליו אדה"ז בפנים מאירות ופתר לו את ספיקותיו. והרי בודאי קיים הצ"צ בפועל כל יום את מה ש"נכון לומר לפני התפלה הריני מקבל עלי.. ואהבת לרעך כמוך" ואת הענין של "יהיב פרוטה לעני והדר מצלי", ולאידך - לא הי' כ"כ חשוב שיתן לו את ההלואה דוקא לפני התפלה, והי' יכול לטעון שמספיק לאהוב את השני "כמוך" והוא הי' דוחה א"ז עד לאחרי התפלה, ומ"מ דוקא הזריזות לעזור לשני יותר מ"כמוך" - זה מה שפעל שאדה"ז נראה אליו וכו'!

A lesson regarding the mitzvah to “Love your fellow like yourself” (in sheini of parashas Kedoshim): After the histalkus of the Alter Rebbe, the Tzemach Tzedek had a number of questions he wanted to ask the Alter Rebbe, but he didn’t merit for the Alter Rebbe to appear to him until one day a Jew approached him before davening and asked for a loan so he could purchase a calf from which to earn his livelihood (it was market day). The Tzemach Tzedek hurried back home – before davening – and leant him the money. When he returned to shul, the Alter Rebbe appeared to him with a radiant face and resolved his questions. Now, the Tzemach Tzedek undoubtedly kept the practice of “accepting upon myself the positive mitzvah to love your fellow like yourself” and “giving a coin to a pauper” before davening every day. Moreover, there was an argument to be made that it’s enough to “love your fellow like yourself” – and since he wouldn’t have dealt with his own livelihood until after davening, he didn’t have to take care of someone else’s livelihood until after davening either. Nevertheless, it was specifically this alacrity in helping another Jew even more than “like yourself” that caused the Alter Rebbe to appear to him etc.
