  • Welcome to the Cape & Islands Podcast where we cover local people, their stories, important community topics, interesting visitors, some history and most importantly work to build a stronger community within Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket collectively.

    This podcast will have multiple series and hosts over time. In addition to standard format interviews, one series I am excited about is the "Cozy Corner" where we'll have bands come into the Trove Art Gallery in Orleans and play live original music while also telling us a little about their band and history. Cozy Corner videos will be posted on the Cape & Islands Podcast YouTube page and the audio will be streamed through the standard podcast streaming platforms.

    I am your host Clarke (future hosts will be added to the stable) my back story is I am a washashore resident of Cape Cod and moved here in 2018. I own Trove Art Gallery & Boutique in Orleans which I opened in 2019 as well as Checkpoint East Recording Studio which launched in 2020, also located in Orleans. While I may not be from here originally, I hope to do a good job promoting all of the fantastic local people that I have the privilege of meeting often through my various businesses. I am also a board member of WOMR Radio out of Provincetown. Thank you for listening and please do share feedback and recommendations for topics or guests at any time.

    In this episode I have the pleasure of speaking with Aleks Mazzeo of Mazzeo Construction about the charitable construction they're doing for homeowners in need. We also discuss their future plans to start a construction non-profit called "April's Angels" to help with the housing crisis on Cape Cod. Aleks is genuinely building towards a stronger community and has the heart and drive to do it!

    In this episode I have the pleasure of speaking with children's book author Gary Wakstein aka G. Pa Rhymes, the Rappin' and Rhymin' Grandpa! G. Pa discovered his true passion of writing children's books later on in life and wanted to make sure his books not only captivated kids but had a deeper message to instill values of friendship, honesty, bravery and environmental stewardship.

    G. Pa is a sought after public speaker who travels to schools, museums, libraries and more to bring joy to children's lives.     In this episode I speak with local creators Ronan Chisholm and Aiden Salzano about their new podcast titled The QuadShot Podcast. Ronan and Aiden are long time friends that grew up playing soccer against each other and have built a strong, long-lasting relationship that includes a love of surfing, sports and so much more.

    Throughout the episode we get to hear about their backgrounds growing up on Cape Cod and also how they're going about starting their new podcast; what their goals are and what some of their challenges have been. I'm excited for Ronan and Aiden I know their podcast will be very inspirational to a lot of people as it grows.
