  • No Boundaries Grace - Atrocious Math - Luke 10
    May 23 2025
As we finish up our study on "atrocious math" or God's abundant, generous grace that goes beyond our transactional society, today we're talking about how one person went beyond limits and boundaries set by society to maybe "foolishly" or "wastefully" take care of someone outside his social circle.

  • Foolish Grace - Atrocious Math - Matthew 13
    May 22 2025
Abundant grace can feel too extravagant because our society is transactional and capitalistic (at least in the US), and we believe you get what you earn. But God's math looks different than ours, and God's grace operates outside of earning, striving, and proving.

Today we're talking about two women who gave all they had, didn't hesitate, and were so honored by God because of it - even though people were critical.

  • Offensive Grace - Atrocious Math - Matthew 20
    May 19 2025
This week we're going to talk about the one thing God might be "bad" at... God is good all the time. God knows all things, is all powerful, is able to do anything, is unconditional and absolutely faithful. But sometimes in scripture, the math doesn't quite math. Is God "bad" at mathematics? Stay with me.

  • Isaiah 42 - Lectio Divina
    May 15 2025
We are experiencing the Word of God this week through the process of Lectio Divina. To break it down, I read through the scripture one time without any kind of commentary or response. The second time, I share something on the Word or a phrase that stands out to me. I'll then read it a third time and explain why this connects to me. Following this, I pray that I receive whatever the Spirit wants me to learn or know about this passage, and how to apply it to my life. Today we're reading out of Isaiah 42... Let's get started!

  • Luke 15 - Lectio Divina
    May 14 2025
Usually we try to pack in as much about a passage of scripture as we can into about seven minutes on this podcast in order to really dive into the context, the meaning, the teaching and learning of it. This week we're doing something completely different. We are doing the practice of Lectio Davina, which is divine reading. It's a contemplative method of reading the Bible that was practiced early in the church in monasteries.
