    Introducing Jose Burgos, a remarkable individual who has transformed his life despite facing overwhelming challenges. After being sentenced to life without parole at just 16 years old, Jose spent 27 years incarcerated in Michigan. Determined to turn his life around, he embraced personal growth, participated in programs, and became a youth mentor within the prison system. In 2018, thanks to significant legal changes, Jose was granted a re-sentencing hearing and eventually released on parole. Since then, he has worked tirelessly as an advocate for ending life without parole for juveniles. Alongside his involvement with organizations such as the Campaign for the Fair Sentencing of Youth and Safe & Just Michigan, Jose is a proud member of the Incarcerated Children's Advocacy Network and serves on the Michigan Committee on Juvenile Justice. Join us as we dive deep into Jose's extraordinary journey, discussing his experiences both in prison and throughout his inspiring reentry into society
