    Ryan Hoover is the owner and lead instructor at Fit to Fight®, a self-defense training organization based out of Charlotte, NC. After training in Krav Maga, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, wrestling, Balintawak Arnis, and traditional marital arts for 15+ years, Ryan founded Fit to Fight® in 2008.

    Driven by a mission to prevail against violence in the modern world, Ryan has created many programs designed to teach people the skills they need to save their lives and protect their loved ones. Ryan has taught classes all over the world and created the Fit to Fight® affiliate organization to spread his innovative teaching style across the United States.

    Ryan prides himself on finding new ways to effectively and efficiently teach self-defense, for everyone. He has gained experience from training competitors and cornering fights in the UFC, RFA, and other MMA promotions, and has taken what he learned from sport fighting training methodologies and adapted it to reality-based self-defense sensibilities.

    Ryan has written curriculum on handgun defense and retention for NC BLET and co-authored three books on Krav Maga. He has also trained many LEOs, military personnel, NFL coaches and athletes, and NASCAR pit crews. Through his Hard Ready® brand, Ryan has designed knives optimized for teaching close-quarters self-defense.

    This is my original 2021 interview with Fred. It was 5 minutes after this episode ended that we decided to do something together; we ended up creating Silencio Coffee. Fred Fusco Fred is a 20-year veteran of the Army Special Operations Command and the owner of Storm Tactical Consulting, Fred served as a Special Forces Medic for a number of years before trying out and getting selected to serve as an operator in a Special Missions Unit. Over a long career, Fred has served as an Assaulter, Breacher, Medic, Sniper, Human Intel Specialist, and finishing up as a Dog Handler. Fred’s background 20 years of service as an 18 Delta Green Beret Medic, and later as an operator in the Army’s Special Missions Unit.

    I speak with former Marine, police officer Scott Puckett on mentorship, coaching and we’re going to discuss law enforcement, his time in the military, violence and Jesus. Scott Puckett is a former Marine, veteran law enforcement officer, and security professional with over 25 years’ experience. Recently retired from law enforcement, he served in multiple assignments throughout his career. Scott’s experience has ranged from uniform patrol, special operations, counter narcotics, and tactical operation teams. In 2001, Scott began his journey of teaching firearms, emergency-evasive driving, and tactical response at his agency. From 2005 to 2011, he served as a close protection specialist in multiple theaters of operation protecting American and foreign dignitaries. He returned home in 2011 to resume a career in law enforcement, progressing his teaching experience to include physical fitness, combatives/self-defense, tactics, and active shooter response. Scott has held leadership roles in uniform patrol, special operations, SWAT, as well as in close personal protection details internationally. Having achieved a list of personal and professional accomplishments over his life, Scott has prioritize his faith, family, and country. Constantly testing himself, Scott has sought to constantly challenge the status quo throughout his life and continues to do so today. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, has completed numerous professional training certifications, and continues to be a seeker of knowledge. His passion in life is to be a mentor, teacher, and coach. Scott lives in Horry County and currently teaches civilians at his private range and all across the United States.
