  • Episode 2 - Brightburn
    Jun 4 2025

It's Nick's turn to choose our film for the cycle and he's going with Brightburn, James Gunn's original attempt at Superman through the lens of a horror film. Only...it's not James Gunn's attempt at Superman because he didn't direct it, only produced it...but it's still his? I don't know. It's all very confusing. Nick tries to explain his thoughts but mostly the guys just B.S. about the film.

We're back with a bonus episode! Last week we launched the show with a live Bonus episode feature the godfather of the Somewhere Podcast Universe (SPU) himself, Ryan Sprague, where we discussed Andor!

Usually, these bonus episodes will release exclusively on our Patreon member feed (Patreon.com/Somewhereonthescreen) but we wanted to celebrate the launch of the show by releasing this first special discussion for everyone!

  • Episode 1 - The Mummy (2017)
    May 21 2025

It's our first episode! Somewhere on the Screen is the latest podcast by friends and performing art people Joseph Reese, Nick Westemeyer, and Chris Moss where they'll take a deep dive into upcoming new releases in film and television with a two-month cycle examining the context of film's arrival. Every two-month cycle they'll take a deep dive into various works they think will be vital to understanding how the new film will be understood by the audience. For our first cycle we'll be looking at James Gunn's upcoming Superman film as he prepares to launch the new DC Cinematic Universe.

This week we're diving into Chris's pick for this cycle as we examine The Mummy (2017). Chris claims this is somehow the most important text for us to consider as we prepare so we'll let him take the reins as we examine this...are we calling it a film? Everyone has thoughts.

If you'd like to hear more from the guys including small (theoretically) bonus episodes or even the video versions of these episodes, check out our Patreon at Patreon.com/somewhereonthescreen. Your support allows us to make this show and we thank you for hanging out with us.

  • Planning Episode - Cycle 1
    May 11 2025

We usually release this behind our paywall on Patreon (patreon.com/somewhereonthescreen) but we wanted to let everyone know what to expect from the good people at Somewhere on the Screen.

This is our (largely) off the cuff episode where we figure out what we're all going to be covering for this first Superman cycle. Come see what we'll be talking about the next couple months and why!
