  • 012 - Body Boundary Exercise
    May 21 2025

This short, guided exercise supports you in building a clearer connection with your body - one part at a time.

This Body Boundary Exercise is about establishing a sense of ownership, presence, and wholeness. Through gentle touch and awareness, you'll explore how to connect with individual parts of yourself, while staying rooted in the bigger picture of you.

Adapted from the work of Dr. Peter A. Levine (Healing Trauma), this exercise invites subtle but powerful shifts that can help:

    - Increase awareness of your boundaries

    - Develop the ability to pace your internal experience

    - Grow your window of capacity - without overwhelm

    - Support regulation and containment for whatever arises

    - Create a stronger container for aliveness

This isn't a fix. It's a practice. One that might help you feel a little more here, and a little more whole.

  • 011 - Befriending Your Body Through Presence and the Mind-Body Connection
    May 14 2025
The body keeps the score, yes - but it also holds the map.In this episode of So What Who Cares?, we explore what it means to come home to the body—especially when it hasn’t always felt like a safe place to be. We talk about the complex relationship between the body and identity, and how trauma, chronic stress, and disconnection can shape not just how we feel, but who we think we are.We explore how the body stores unprocessed experiences and how presence, curiosity, and small daily practices can help us reconnect. This is a conversation about sensation, survival patterns, healing, and what it means to befriend the body instead of fighting it.Our traveler finds himself in still waters, and explores how to ground, orientate, and resource himself into his own body. We explore: How trauma lives in the body and can shape our identityWhy being present in the body is essential for healingThe difference between “having” a body and “being” in itWhy chronic pain and tension can be linked to past experiencesHow somatic practices help build safety and connection from withinThe role of community in healing and regulationHow some movement practices (yes, even yoga) can disconnect usWays to track sensation and build body awareness every dayConnect with So What Who CaresEmail: mail.sowhatwhocares@gmail.comYouTube: @sowhatwhocarespodcastInstagram: @sowhatwhocarespodcastFacebook: So What Who Cares PodcastTikTok: @sowhatwhocarespodcastFind Lora McCarville at: https://www.loramccarville.com/Takeaways:The essence of who we are is not the same as the body, but the body is where we begin.Befriending the body is a key part of healing and self-acceptance.Emotional and physical pain are often rooted in survival responses. The body can hold what the mind has long forgotten.Simple, consistent practices create space for change.Connection with others is essential—we’re not meant to do this alone.Sound Bites:"We have a body, but we are not a body.""The body does work as a beautiful tool.""Befriending your body is a big piece of it.""We need connection to heal.""The body holds things that we're not even aware of.""Yoga can disconnect you from your body.""I feel therefore I am.""There's a kind of safety in coming home to the body."Chapters:00:00 – The Calm Before the Journey02:07 – Understanding the Body and Identity03:33 – The Mind-Body Connection07:00 – Healing Through Presence10:50 – Befriending the Body14:45 – The Complexity of Pain19:31 – Tracking Sensation22:42 – The Impact of Trauma on the Body28:09 – Coping Mechanisms and Disconnection33:29 – Finding Connection Through Movement36:00 – Daily Practices for Body Awareness#sowhatwhocarespodcast #sowhatwhocares #loramccarville #jeffkalasky #podcast #podcasting #podcaster #podcastlife #podcastshow #newepisode #newpodcast #spotifypodcast #applepodcasts #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #healingjourney #traumahealing #selfacceptance #emotionalwellness #mindbodyconnection #bodyawareness #somatichealing #presence #somaticpractices #sensationtracking #yogaforhealing #identityandhealing #chronicpainrelief #selfawareness #befriendingyourbody #traumainformed #healingthroughmovement #communityhealing #fyp #tiktokpodcast #podcastrecommendations #podcastersunite #podcastcommunity

  • 010 - Island of Echoes: A Conversation About Emotions
    May 7 2025

Emotions can shape how we see ourselves, others, and the world around us. In this episode, Lora and Jeff explore what emotions really are, how they differ from feelings and states, and why some emotions stay with us long after the moment has passed. We unpack why we get stuck in certain emotional patterns, how culture and upbringing shape our emotional expression, and how we can begin to shift our emotional states with awareness, care, and compassion. We explore:- The difference between emotions, feelings, and nervous system states- How emotions can become “stuck” and turn into longer-term patterns- Why emotional granularity (naming what we feel) matters- How we’re taught to suppress or favor certain emotions- What emotional regulation really means (it’s not just being calm)- Tools to shift or interrupt emotional states—without bypassing real painOur adventurer arrives on a strange island where his words echo back as distorted emotions. Confused and unsettled, he meets a curious crane who explains that the island reflects not what he says, but what he feels. As the Traveler begins to listen inward, the echoes shift, becoming clearer. By the time he leaves, he carries with him a deeper trust in his emotions—and in his ability to face them.
