  • Dispelling Social Norms and Setting Mindset with Zulean Cruz-Diaz
    Jun 17 2025

Today, we're doing something a little different... a cohosted episode with me and the brilliant Zulean Cruz-Díaz. A Texa-rican leadership developer who’s on a mission to help young professionals communicate, connect, and lead with confidence. Her work is all about shaping tomorrow’s leaders, and I couldn’t think of a better guest to dig into one of the most important pieces of that puzzle: mindset.

In this episode, we’re unpacking the internalized beliefs that quietly shape how we show up—like the idea that more is always better or that your worth is tied to your productivity. (Spoiler: it’s not.)

We also chat about our individual processes for getting through the day and achieving success and peace.

If you’re navigating your 20s, dealing with self-doubt, or just trying to unlearn some unhelpful norms—you’ll want to tune in to this one.

Quote of the day: - "The opposite of courage is not cowardice, it is conformity. Even a dead fish can go with the flow" - Jim Hightower

  • The Art Of Doing Nothing and The Secret To Happiness
    Jun 10 2025

I don't know about you, but my brain moves super fast and in turn, my life moves super fast. I very rarely take time to just stop, slow down, appreciate and simply... exist. What does that even mean? What does that even look like? How on earth do I not hustle or focus on productivity?

Il dolce far niente, liming, niksen, all concepts that focus on exactly that. Just being. The art of doing fuck all! Maybe this is what we need more of? What do you think?

Quote of the day: "There is more to life than increasing its speed. — Mohandas K. Gandhi"

  • Is Having a Racial Preference in Dating Okay?
    Jun 3 2025

I’m still learning about this, but I’ve always wondered about the notion of having a racial preference. Is it ok? Is it not ok? Are there grey areas?? Why do people say they have racial preferences? Is it based in something more problematic than we realize? So many questions. In this episode, I try to unpack some of these questions through research and personal reflection.

Quote of the day:“The fact is, who we love is subtly and not so subtly influenced by society and its rigid racial hierarchies. The racism that permeates almost every aspect of our everyday lives extends to our dating preferences.” - Danielle Williams

Important disclaimer: This episode explores how societal biases shape dating preferences. It is NOT meant to shame individuals, but to examine unconscious patterns. Attraction is complex; if this challenges you, we invite you to sit with that discomfort. We’re discussing broad trends, not personal attacks. Additionally, we understand that this is just one perspective. Have a different take? DM us @notesandquotespodcast.
