Acerca de esta escucha

Nodycast is a lively podcast discussing the theory, techniques and latest innovations in nonlinear dynamics, and its applications to systems of all kinds. This includes almost everything under the sun such as mechanical, structural, electrical, chemical, thermo-fluid, ecological, economic, epidemiological, biological and chemical systems. It is hosted by Dr. 'Nat' C. Nataraj, Moritz Professor at Villanova University and Senior Editor for Nonlinear Dynamics, a Springer-Nature journal.© 2025 Chandrasekhar Nataraj Ciencia Matemáticas

  • Episode 7: Nonlinear Normal Modes
    Jun 22 2025

This episode features a stimulating discussion between Prof. Nataraj (host) and Prof. Steven Shaw. Prof. Shaw is a Professor at Florida Tech in Melbourne, Florida, and is a prolific and noted scholar with many publications in nonlinear dynamics. His work ranges over a number of diverse areas including fundamental physics, modeling, and design of resonant micro/nano-electro-mechanical systems, their applications in time-keeping and sensing, and in the dynamics and design of centrifugal pendulum vibration absorbers for rotating machinery, with automotive applications. In this episode, we discuss an introduction to the concept of nonlinear normal modes as well as Steve's significant contribution to this topic.

  • Episode 6: Nonlinear Dynamics in Mechanics (Part 2)
    Jul 30 2023

This episode features Part 2 of a stimulating discussion between Dr. Nataraj (host) and Prof. Giuseppe Rega. Prof. Rega is a Professor Emeritus at Sapienza University in Rome, Italy, and is a prolific and noted scholar with many publications in nonlinear dynamics. His work ranges over a number of diverse areas including structural mechanics, controls and exploiting nonlinearity. In this episode, we discuss the history of nonlinear dynamics, the current state of the art as well as possible future directions. We laud many current developments but even complain about some directions! The discussion is split into Parts 1 and 2. Please check Episode 5 for Part 1.
