Today, considers Jesus' invitation to embrace poverty, detachment, simplicity, and ultimate life sacrifice. The meaning of following Christ is contemplated, acknowledging that selfish motives are incompatible with discipleship. A "yes" to Jesus is understood as a "yes" to His cross. Jesus' life is examined to determine willingness to follow Him into this poverty. A conscious choice to follow Christ, fully understanding the commitment, leads to participation in His resurrected life.
