Acerca de esta escucha
The surf is rolling in at a solid 3 feet with water temperatures in the upper 60s - perfect for cooling off. Today's UV index is blasting into very high territory, so sunscreen is not just recommended, it's essential.
Brooklyn's Coney Island and Manhattan Beach are serving up mostly cloudy skies until 7 AM, then transitioning to sunshine. Temperatures will climb into the upper 80s, with heat indices pushing into the mid 90s. West winds around 5 mph will shift southwest in the afternoon.
Rockaway Beach and Jacob Riis Park can expect partly sunny skies with similar conditions - mid 80s and a moderate rip current risk. The beaches from Long Beach to Jones Beach will see southwest winds between 5 to 10 mph and temperatures in the lower 80s.
Looking ahead, Tuesday brings a chance of showers and thunderstorms across the region. Winds will pick up, and temperatures will hover in the low 80s. Wednesday looks more stable with mostly sunny skies.
For all beach-goers: remember the golden rules. Always swim near a lifeguard, bring a flotation device, and if caught in a rip current, stay calm and float. Don't try to fight the current - swim parallel to the shore.
Stay safe, stay cool, and enjoy the waves!
