  • 179. When You’re Fighting Idolatry: 1 John 5:21

In this episode of Moments of Worship, we reflect on the quiet but powerful pull of idolatry in our lives. 1 John 5:21 offers a tender yet urgent warning: “Little children, keep yourselves from idols.” Idols today may not look like carved statues, but they often take the form of good things that have taken God’s rightful place—success, comfort, control, approval, even ministry itself. When we begin to trust in or treasure these more than God, our worship shifts. This episode encourages us to examine our hearts and remember that idolatry isn’t just about what we bow to—it’s about what we rely on, prioritize, and pursue.

But God calls us to something better: the surpassing joy of knowing and worshiping Him alone. Scripture exhorts us to “put to death… covetousness, which is idolatry” (Colossians 3:5) and to fix our affections on Christ, who alone satisfies the soul. Psalm 73:25 reminds us of the cry of a heart fully devoted to God: “Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides You.” As we fight idolatry, let us return again and again to the beauty, glory, and sufficiency of Christ.

  • 178. When You Struggle with Bitterness or Unforgiveness: Ephesians 4:31–32
    May 22 2025

    Send us a text

In this episode of Moments of Worship, we explore how bitterness and unforgiveness quietly take root and distort our hearts, relationships, and even our worship. But God calls us to something better. Ephesians 4:31–32 exhorts us to put away bitterness and instead clothe ourselves with kindness, tenderheartedness, and forgiveness—not because others always deserve it, but because Christ has forgiven us.

Forgiveness isn’t forgetting or minimizing the hurt. It’s trusting that Jesus already bore the weight of our sins and theirs. Through Him, we’re freed to release the need for revenge and walk in love.

God has no beginning or end. He always was, is and will be. This is hard for us to understand as we have finite minds and God is infinite. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. (Psalm 90:2)

Isaiah 40:28: “Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.”

In this episode of Moments of Worship, Pastor Keith McMinn reflects on the quiet drift that can pull us away from corporate worship—whether from exhaustion, hurt, or habit. Sharing insights from a recent 9Marks Weekender with fellow pastors, he points us back to the irreplaceable role of the gathered church in the Christian life.

The Fighter Verse, Hebrews 10:24–25, urges us not to neglect meeting together, but to encourage one another—especially as the Day of Christ draws near. Pastor Keith highlights several “one another” commands from the New Testament that require our presence, such as loving, serving, and forgiving one another.

This episode is a call to resist isolation and reengage with the church—not out of guilt, but out of grace. God’s people need you, and you need them.

  • 173. When You Seek Your Own Glory: Jeremiah 9:23-24

In today’s episode, we reflect on the danger of pride and the grace God gives to the humble, inspired by a powerful illustration from a Life Action revival and the truth of James 4. Just as two football teams oppose each other on the field, God stands in opposition to the prideful. Pride shows up when we seek our own glory, rely on ourselves, or make everything about us. But God offers grace to those who walk in humility. We are reminded that apart from Christ, we can do nothing, and our only boast is in Him. Join us as we consider practical ways to cultivate humility and walk in step with God’s grace.

  • 172. When You’re Impatient: Psalm 27:14
    May 13 2025

In Episode 172 of Moments of Worship, Pastor Keith reflects on the struggle of impatience through the lens of Psalm 27:14: “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” Drawing on the simple illustration of waiting for Christmas as a child, this episode explores how waiting—though difficult—is a vital part of the Christian life. Impatience often reveals our desire for control, but Scripture calls us to trust in God’s timing and character. Waiting is not passive; it’s an act of faith and worship. Pastor Keith encourages listeners to see waiting as an opportunity to grow in strength and dependence on the Lord. With practical insight and biblical encouragement, this episode invites you to memorize Psalm 27:14, worship while you wait, and hold fast to the God who is never late.
