This center is designated as a "cooling center" for residents after Hurricane Beryl caused power outages amidst the heatwave.According to the U.S. power outage tracking website poweroutage.us, Texas recorded seven deaths and two million customers, primarily in Houston, experiencing power outages due to fallen trees and utility poles affecting transmission lines. By July 12, power had been restored to half of those affected.
