First Give's Director, Louisa Searle, talks to Manny Oweylu - the Director of The Reach Out Project, and an Educator, speaker and Assistant Head Teacher.

It was marginalisation and exclusion which he experienced in school that prompted his decision to become a teacher. There weren't many young black teachers to look up to when he was at school, so he decided he needed to become what he didn't have.

He is passionate about changing the narrative for disadvantaged young people and a big part of helping The Reach Out Project achieve its objective.

It's vision is to open up London as a city of opportunity for youth and help each young person they support to realise their potential regardless of their background/circumstance.

In this episode Manny talks to Louisa about how his negative experiences school of led him down his current path, why mentoring is so important, the role of schools in creating a 'charitable culture,' his purpose in being a teacher, and why he now dedicates so much time to sociallly purposeful and charitable work.
