  • FIRST PODIUM IN 239 RACES! British F1 GP, Indycar, NASCAR, BSB & more
    Jul 7 2025

Welcome to the Lovecars on the Grid podcast! Our hosts, Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman brings us a roundup of motorsport events from a packed week, from Lando Norris's Formula 1 win at Silverstone, shocking results in Indycar, NASCAR & more.

In the motorsport news, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the president of the FIA has been challenged by Tim Mayer for the FIA Presidency.

    Formula 1

It was a record weekend at the British Formula 1 Grand Prix at Silverstone, with over 500,000 spectators. McLaren's Oscar Piastri looked unbeatable after overtaking pole sitter Max Verstappen's Red Bull car. Teams were forced to rethink tyre strategies due to the ever-changeable weather at Silverstone.

During the 2nd safety car, Verstappen was forced to overtake Piastri, following the Australian driver braking heavily at the front of the pack, unnecessarily. Piastri received a 10 second penalty, which resulted in a 2nd place finish.

Verstappen later had a spin due to the poor grip, giving Britain's Lando Norris a 1st place finish. Elsewhere, Lewis Hamilton was battling Nico Hulkenburg for 3rd place, but it was Hulkenburg that brought home the 3rd place for Sauber, and his first podium of his career after a whopping 239 races.

    Indycar

The Indycar drivers were racing at mid Ohio, where Alex Palou looked favourite to win, but was pipped by Scott Dixon

    NASCAR

The NASCAR drivers were in Chicago, where Shane van Gisbergen took the win from his team mate following the restart from a safety car, putting his team mate into the wall.

    British Superbikes

BSB were at Knockhill in Scotland, where favourite Bradley Ray was finally beaten by Rory Skinner in race 3 on his Ducati. Ray was able to win both Race 1 and 2.

    Next week

Indycar are in Iowa, plus WEC is back at Interlagos, with IMSA in Canada. MotoGP are racing in Germany, World Superbikes are at Donington back home in the UK, while NASCAR are at the Sonama Raceway in California and Formula E are racing in Berlin, plus British GT at Snetterton!

  • Who will take the Mercedes seat? Lando Fights back! WRC, MotoGP, NASCAR & more
    Jun 30 2025

Welcome to the Lovecars On The Grid podcast, where our hosts, Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us a roundup of motorsport events from around the World!

The biggest question this week, is who will take the Mercedes seat next year? Elsewhere, McLaren have been bought by CYVN Holdings, based in Abu Dhabi.

It was Oscar Piastri vs Lando Norris in the McLarens at the F1 in Austria, where we had a terrific performance between the two drivers, who ended up taking 1st and 2nd place. Max Verstappen was unfortunately forced to retire after a collision with Mercedes driver, Kimi Antonelli.

Hyundai were triumphant in Acropolis, Greece in WRC, where other teams were plagued by punctures.

In MotoGP, the riders were at Assen in the Netherlands, where the Marquez brothers dominated again.

NASCAR were racing full throttle in Atlanta, with cars racing up to three wide, colliding as they jostle for position. There was one crash that took out 23 cars!

Next week, we have the Silverstone Grand Prix in Formula 1! British Superbikes are at Knockhill circuit, plus Indycar in Ohio, Formula E in Berlin and NASCAR have a street race in Chicago.

    INDYCAR – Road America

Alex Palou took the win at Road America, mastering fuel strategy to hold off Felix Rosenqvist in second and Santino Ferrucci in third. Scott Dixon led the most laps but Palou’s late-race pace proved decisive.

Marc now extends his title lead with consistent top results.
