マリアさんは、イギリスから日本に来ました。今日、友だちの香澄さんと東京を観光します。「香澄さん、東京スカイツリーに行きたいです。」 「わかりました。じゃあ、地下鉄に乗りましょう。こちらです。」２人は東京スカイツリーに来ました。 「わあ、高いですね。」 「きれいですね。」　「あれは富士山ですか。」　「はい、今日は天気がいいですから、富士山が見えますね。」「香澄さん、友だちにおみやげを買いたいです。」 「あの店に行きましょう。面白いおみやげがたくさんありますよ。」「友だちに日本語のTシャツをあげたいです。」　「じゃあ、このTシャツはどうですか。」　マリアさんはTシャツを買いました。「香澄さん、私、おなかがすきました。何か食べたいです。」 「そうですね。お昼ごはんは、何がいいですか。」　「ラーメンが食べたいです。」　「じゃあ、私のおすすめの店に行きましょう。」２人はラーメン屋さんで、おいしいしょうゆラーメンを食べました。「「マリアさん、このあと何がしたいですか。」　「浅草に行きたいです。お寺が見たいです。」 「いいですね。浅草のお寺の近くに、おいしいお団子屋さんもありますよ。」「わあ、お団子、食べたいです！あ、でも今はまだおなかがいっぱいです・・・」

千尋さんは仕事の後、とても疲れていたので、今日の晩ごはんはカップラーメンで簡単に済ませることにしました。最近お気に入りの唐辛子がたっぷり入った辛いラーメンです。キッチンタイマーを3分にセットして、カップラーメンにお湯を注いだ瞬間、スマホが鳴りました。画面には「葵」の名前が表示されています。「もしもし、葵？どうしたの？」「千尋、聞いてー！今日のお昼に寄った駅前のカフェの店員さんがね、めっちゃかわいかったの！」「あー、そうなんだ。」葵さんの電話は、緊急の内容ではなかったようです。ちょっとほっとして千尋さんはタイマーをちらっと見ました。10秒経過しています。「小さな星が散りばめられたきれいな夜空みたいなネイルしてて、ヘアアレンジはちょっとクールな感じで、本当にきれいな人でさ。」「へえ、そんなに素敵な人だったんだ。あの、実は今・・・」「それでね、どうしてももっと話したいんだけど、どうやったら友だちになれると思う？SNSとかやってないかな？とりあえず毎日行って、顔を覚えてもらったほうがいいかな？」千尋さんは、今時間がないことを伝えたいのですが、葵さんの話は止まりません。タイマーを見ると、1分経過しています。「うん、それもいいかもね。でも、葵、あのね、今…」「それか、思い切って『おすすめのメニューは何ですか？』って話しかけちゃおうかな！あ、でもそれだとあんまり印象に残らないかな？じゃあ、こういうのはどう？たとえば・・・」葵さんの話を聞きながら、千尋さんはタイマーをみつめています。既に2分30秒が経過しています。早くこの電話を切り上げないと、せっかくのラーメンが伸びてしまいます。「あのね、葵、実は、・・・」「えっ、もしかして千尋、あの店員さんのこと知ってたりする!?」「いや、そうじゃなくて、今実はね、」「えっ、もしかして今駅前のカフェにいるの？」「ううん、そうでもなくて、私今カップラーメンを食べるところだったの。もうお湯も入れちゃって、あと15秒で出来上がるんだよね。」「えーごめん！それなら早く言ってくれれば良かったのに！」「言おうとはしてたんだけどね。ラーメン食べ終わったらまたかけ直すから、後でゆっくり話そう？」「うん、じゃあまた後でね！」ピピピピピ。タイマーが鳴りました。なんとか一番おいしい状態でカップラーメンが食べられそうです。
