The interviews were originally broadcast on "The Carolina Morning Radio Show", with host Ken Mann from Nags Head, to the Outer Banks and Northeast North Carolina.

The day we heard our legislators wanted to place a toll on people riding the ferry to and from Ocracoke Island, our first thought was, what would Senator Marc Basnight have said or done, about that idea. About a day later we just happened to find a 1993 tape, recorded in Raleigh, the very day he was elected to lead the NC Senate. we though his family and friends would enjoy seeing it. We should all listen to his words of acceptance, at the end of the recording.
