Acerca de esta escucha
In this episode of the Media Mind, Dr. Tarek Cherkaoui hosts Mohamad H. Elmasry, Professor of Media Studies at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies. Professor Elmasry discusses how South Africa presented a solid case to the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Irrespective of the outcome, bringing Israel to the court for "the crime of crimes" is a moral boost for Palestinians. Nevertheless, Professor Elmasry criticised the biased media coverage in the Global North despite the severity of the war crimes and the high number of journalists killed. He explains that Israel is slowly losing global support, and in the long term, the US and Israel are going to face the grim reality that the conflict dynamics have changed.
Dr. Mohamad H. Elmasry is a Professor of Media Studies at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies. He received his PhD in Mass Communication from the University of Iowa as a Presidential Fellow. His research on Arab media systems, news coverage of race, and the media and terrorism has appeared in reputable refereed publications, including Journalism, Journalism Practice, Journalism Studies, and the International Journal of Communication. He has also written for Al-Jazeera English, the Middle East Eye, The New Arab, Muftah, and Jadaliyya and appeared as an analyst on Al-Jazeera, CNN, BBC World News, and other networks.
