Acerca de esta escucha
Welcome to The Hip Replacement Podcast – a show by a hip replacement patient FOR hip replacement patients, their families and friends.
Whether you're preparing for surgery, in recovery, or just looking to move and live better — you're in the right place.
In this episode I shared some of the challenges faced as a younger hip replacement patient including the following:
- Embarrassment of the hip surgeries at my age Dealing with the unwanted sympathy from co-workers
- Outliving the components of the hips and needing a revision or two in the future
- Feeling much older than my actual age and struggling to return my “feels-like age” to its proper place as younger than my “actual age”
- Wanting to get back to an active lifestyle typical of someone my age
- Not having peers in my age range going through the same issues
Yes, everyone has challenges whether they are age 30 or 70 and these were some of the issues or concerns from a younger person. A younger person may recover more quickly but inevitably must address the feeling of being out-of-place and faces the possibility of needing additional hip surgeries in the future to replace any worn-out components.
